Autonomyo Completes Real-World Pre-Tests of Skywalk Across Clinics, Physio Centres, and Home Environments

Skywalk shows consistent safety and usability across inpatient, outpatient, and home rehabilitation scenarios.

Fabian Bischof

Autonomyo has reached an important milestone on its path toward bringing intensive gait rehabilitation into everyday life. The company has successfully completed its first usability pre-tests of Skywalk, its intelligent body-weight support system, across three real-world environments: inpatient rehabilitation clinics, outpatient physiotherapy centres, and patients’ own homes.

Skywalk enables safe verticalization and progressive weight-bearing for individuals with neurological and age-related mobility limitations. By providing a stable and secure therapeutic environment, it allows patients to practice standing and walking movements that would otherwise require multiple therapists or be impossible to perform safely.

Positive feedback from physiotherapists

Clinicians who participated in the usability tests highlighted the therapeutic impact and safety of the system:

Caterina Brescacin, Head of Physiotherapy, and Quentin Lheureux, Lead Neurology Physiotherapist at the Clinique Bernoise Montana:
“The Skywalk is a mechanically assisted unloading device that enables verticalization and the progressive weight-bearing of patients with severe functional limitations.
Thanks to its adjustable suspension system, it secures the standing position and supports the patient during walking, while providing a stable and reassuring therapeutic environment.
In our practice, this tool has allowed us to help two neurological patients stand up and simulate walking safely — something the patients had not been able to do since the beginning of their treatment.
This experience highlights the value of Skywalk in restoring mobility and functional stimulation in patients whose active participation in rehabilitation had been limited until now.”

Albane Meignan, Physiotherapist specialized in neurorehabilitation and founder of Geriability Fitness in Yverdon-les-Bains:
“Skywalk allows me to work with taller and heavier individuals. I greatly appreciate the use of elastic bands, which make perfect therapeutic sense and help patients make the most of their capabilities. In addition, the locking system ensures total safety. A significant part of my patients could use this system during their therapy.”

Encouraging experiences from users

Patients and seniors involved in the early testing phase reported increased confidence, safety, and a renewed sense of mobility:

Jean-Claude, 70, living with multiple sclerosis:
“It had been more than four months since I last walked. Thanks to this device, I was finally able to stand up and take a few steps again.”

Michel, 60, living with cerebellar paraparesis:
“This device gives me a feeling of lightness and safety comparable to what I feel when I’m in the water.”

Christian, 70, living with cerebellar ataxia
“Thanks to the Skywalk, I feel completely safe on my treadmill at home. It allowed me to train three times a day for the two weeks I had the device at home. Safe and adapted physical activity helps me age better while staying fit.”
